Internship Details: Spring 2012 Internship: January 25 – April 6

Explore science, meet scientists, educate others!

MSS interns attend and assist with 6 science seminars per semester during which they meet the speakers and assist with various logistical duties. Sessions take place on Wednesday evenings at Terra Linda High School, Room 207, during the school year. Interns arrive the evening of a session at 7 pm and are free to leave once breakdown is completed (no later than 9 pm).

Interns also assist in researching and writing about event topics, creating and distributing outreach
materials, social networking and online development of Marin Science Seminar’s mission to attract more students to the fields of science, technology and math. Other than attending all sessions, duties will depend on student interests and background. Training is provided for all intern tasks.

• Attend and assist at all 6 sessions
• Create & distribute outreach materials for events in MS Word
• Research & post blog postings on topics relevant to upcoming sessions
• Manage the MSS Facebook page & events
• Assist with creating & editing video for MSS movies
• Six group intern meetings on a weekend for 2 hours TBD

Requirements
Student interns must attend a Marin County public high school. They must have decent writing skills and familiarity with the main social networking sites. Prospective interns will be interviewed between 1/11 and 1/19/12.

The Marin Science Seminar internship is being offering in conjunction with the Marin County School to Career Partnership. Students attending a public high school in Marin County may apply. Completed application packets for the Spring 2011 Marin Science Seminar Internship are due Wednesday, January 17th, 2012 at 5 pm at Terra Linda HS's College & Career Center.
